Mythian History at a Glance
Where did the Mythians come from?
The Mythians are a race of beings that have resided on the magical island for centuries.
It is thought that the first Mythians were humans that landed on the island by accident and over time the island changed them into the race they are.
What made the humans decide to go out into the world?
A human washed up on their shores and told them stories about the human world. The Mythian Council decided to send out Mythian Explorers to verify the story of the human man.
What was life on the island like before humans?
The island was a Utopian society. All Mythians worked and lived in harmony to maintain the island.
How did life on the island change once humans started to arrive?
The humans brought their ideals with them. The idea of slaves, trade, law, and even buildings. The Mythians allowed the influence however didn't fully accept it. Status due to coins was never accepted. All citizens were considered equal. Only Captivus held a lower status.
What happened to the Mythians that left the island?
As the Mythian Explorers landed in countries all over the world, humans stared up at them in awe. The humans had written stories about their gods but now their gods were in front of them. The Mythian Explorer's saw this as an advantage and stepped into the roles of the human's gods. The Mythian Explorer's thrived in their new roles, adding to the myths the humans had already created.
Why didn't all the Mythians leave the island?
At first the council only let a handful of Mythians go explore the world. The Council didn't know what was beyond their shore and wanted to make sure their people were safe. Those on the island waited anxiously for word of the fellow Mythians that were abroad in the world. At first the explorers reported back to the Council. They established trades with ships from all over the world to bring new supplies/gifts to the island. Things such as fabric, building materials, foods and plants. When the council would ask if it was safe to send more Mythians out into the world, the explorers would all respond with the answer no. The human world they wrote about was nothing but pain and torment.
Why did the Mythian explorers lie?
The Mythian Explorers didn't want to return to Mythia where they would be equal. The Mythian Explorer's loved being worshiped and served by humans. The humans had given them power and control. They also learned that if a human defied them a simple use of their power caused the humans to get back in line. The Mythian Explorer's were in contact with each other. As a group they decided not to tell the Mythian Council of the worshiping and being treated as Gods. The feared that more Mythians would cause the worshiping to stop. They wanted the power and fame.
Why did the Mythians brethren trap their family members in Mythia?
Power, greed, control. Several groups of Mythian left the island after washing up on their shores. The stories he shared of great cities and armies intrigued them so scouting parties were sent out to different areas of the world to learn of the great lands themselves. When they left their island home, the powers grew as they moved further from the shore.
How did the Mythian Council handle things?
As stories of war, pain and torment were received from the Mythian explorers, the council debated on if it was safe for any Mythian to be in the human world or should they intervene and stop the pain and torment themselves. This argument fractured the council. Two factions were formed: The Elder and the Remnants.
The Beginning of the End
The arrival of man had begun to destroy the Utopian way of life that the Mythians had always known. As more humans arrived on the island the stories of pain, despair and war. These were things that the Mythians had not experienced. The Council decided that all Mythians should return home until a decision could be made in how to handle the world of humans.
The Remnant's conceded to the Elder's and called the Mythian Explorer's back even though the Remnant's had believed they could enslave the humans and stop all the pain in despair.
What was the reaction of the Mythian Explorers?
The Mythian Explorer's refused to return to Mythia. They denounced their heritage and declared themselves as gods of the Human world. In their paranoia and fear that family members would try to force them back to the island they pulled their power together and cursed the island. The curse would not allow the Mythians to leave the island. The Posing gods returned to their humans.
Reaction of the Islanders
Once the islanders found themselves stuck on the island, the council split into two factions and the war began as both sides began to blame each other. The war on Mythia almost destroyed the island and their population was reduced to half. The Mythians finally realized if they kept fighting, they would eventually destroy them all so an agreement was made. The two opposing councils became known as the Elder Council and the Remnant Council. The tension between the two sides remains.

THE BASICS OF ISLAND LIFE
When the island was cursed and the people were trapped on the island, two different viewpoints emerged. It doesn't matter if you are a born or turned Mythian, everyone falls onto one or the other side. The views are represented by the two councils. The Mythians choose which council they wish to follow. Just like in all views a Mythian may not 100% agree with the council they choose, however, they do choose the one closest to their own beliefs.
Remnant Council and Elder Council
Remnants Council
Before the Curse: The Remnants Council wanted to go out and conquer the human world to stop the pain and torment they were causing each other.
They wanted to save the world.
After the Curse:
They wanted to save the world.
After the Curse:
- The Remnants partially blame the Elders for being trapped on the island due to their idea of bringing the Mythian Explorers home instead of going to them. Since the war, the Remnants try not to openly accuse the Elders for the entrapment in an effort to keep the peace.
- The Remnants do not trust the humans, they feel that all humans should be enslaved on the island. The humans should be forced to worship them.
- The Remnants do believe that worship from the humans will make them more powerful.
- Humans are beneath them.
- They will accept humans turned Mythians however they insist that for a human to be turned they must prove their worthiness. They do not believe it is necessary
- The Remnants do not hide their feelings about humans.
Elder Councils
Before the Curse: The Elders wanted to call the Mythians Explorers back and stay away from the human world due to the stories of pain and torment.
They wanted to withdraw and let the humans destroy themselves.
After the Curse:
Both Councils saw the humans as their property and had multiple uses, worship, knowledge, and even breeding.
For more information on the council see the links below.
They wanted to withdraw and let the humans destroy themselves.
After the Curse:
- The Elder council feels the Remnant council is partially to blame for the curse because they argued about withdrawing Mythian Explorers and if they had allowed them to react faster, they would not have been cursed. Just like the Remnant Council they do not openly accuse the other council for the entrapment in order to keep the peace.
- The Elder Council do not trust the humans however they feel that if they allow some luxuries the humans had they will be more willing to worship and serve them. The saying "Kill them with Kindness" comes to mind.
- Humans should be manipulated in getting what they want. There is no need to force slaves, they all already are.
- The Elders allowed certain aspects of the human world to be introduced to the island such as law and order, business, currency, homes and slavery. To make the humans feel comfortable on the island.
- The Elders reject forcing the use of currency and allowing the humans create status levels based on wealth or property owned.
- Humans are beneath them
- Believe it is necessary to turn some humans into turned Mythians.
Both Councils saw the humans as their property and had multiple uses, worship, knowledge, and even breeding.
For more information on the council see the links below.
NEUTRALITY
The only group on the island that must present neutrality is the Lion Guard. The need for this is so they can handle disputes among the Mythians without being accused of choosing a side.
Mythians don't always openly state their position but ALL Mythians respect the rules of the islands. In fear that the use of their powers is blocked, and they find themselves as Captivus.

The Village Quartermaster(Elder) keeps track of the items coming into the village.
There is a currency in Mythia. The coins are not gold or gems or anything from the human world. The currency was added in order to help humans acclimate more to the Island's way of life.

WORK
On Mythia everyone works. it doesn't matter if how much currency or things your character has everyone must have a job. The Mythians have always had a high work ethic. This work ethic has prevented poverty and a social class system from forming on the island.
It is considered a crime not to work and those that do not have a job will be arrested and work will be forced on them. More on forced labor is found under the links below in Captivus and captured.

RELIGION
The island provided the Mythians with everything they needed. They did not have a need to question why things were or were not. They were happy. That is until man showed up..
There is no creation story .. there is no creature or being that created the Earth. For the Mythians it just is. Until the arrival of humans the Mythians has no concept of worship or what it was. They adapted to the concept of worship as they believe the worship from the humans will make them stronger. (This is not true but the Mythians do not know this and will not every be able to figure it out until they escape the island). Any worship seen on the island has come from the stories and explanations the humans have given to the Mythians as they arrive on Mythia.

HUMANS ON MYTHIA
ARRIVAL ON THE ISLAND
Humans that arrive on the island are
- Observed and watched closely
- Set free if they were enslaved in the human world
- interrogated
- Given the Rules of Mythia
- Given a piece of the Eternity fruit
- Studied how they interacted with one another and with how they reacted to the Mythians themselves.
- Tested
- Processed by the Harbor Master and then the Medicus
WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN TO THE HUMANS?
- The Mythians are interested in finding out why the Humans worshiped the Ancient Gods and learning the tricks to make them worship them.
- Once a piece of the eternity fruit is eaten the human is trapped on the island.
- Slaves are set free because the Mythians don't believe that people are different social status. They believe that all people are equal.... well... all humans are equal, Mythians are better than that humans.
- Humans are responsible for knowing the laws and that they must work. This information is given upon arrival. Those that forget or ignorant to this can find themselves arrested and facing charges.

The Eternity Fruit
The Eternity Fruit is the only grown on the island of Mythia. For most Mythians they grew up with eating in on special occasions This was just a delicacy at first until on of the Captains of a trade ship tasted some of the fruit and found himself trapped on the island. It was then the Mythians started looking into the the fruit benefits. They discovered that this fruit forced those not trapped on the island to remain there. This allowed Mythians more time to get the Humans to worship them. The other benefit they found in using the fruit was when give to a human the second time, it triggered the changing process. The Council quickly realized the value of this fruit and the choices it allowed them to have when it came to the humans. The fruit trees only grew in one area of the island. The Mythians didn't want the humans to find or know about the fruit so using their abilities they head the trees using their powers. Only a few people are allowed to know it's where abouts and are charged with collecting the fruit based on the humans coming into port. When served in the Harbor Master's office or in the Medicus, the fruit is kept under guard and out of sight till needed.
*In character it is not possible to steal the fruit so someone can turn without council knowledge. As it is NPC Guarding the fruit a player may not control them and they cannot be outsmarted or hurt without approval from an admin.
