The Lion Guard are Mythia’s main force for both protection and law enforcement. It is a position of great power and responsibility, as the citizens of the island look to them for safety and security.Putting on the armor of a Lion Guard is one that should never be taken lightly. It is a life of honor and duty, training and danger. But for those that can stand proudly shoulder to shoulder with their brothers and sisters in arms, there is no finer feeling on Mythia than that of being one of the Lions. The Lion Guard answer to the Lord Commander, who is their leader in all things. Their responsibilities include protection of the Town, Village, and ports. It is their duty to uphold the laws of Mythia – arresting those that break the law, and to enforce all punishments set forth for the guilty. In all things, the Lion Guard serves the laws of Mythia. They answer to the Lord Commander and Ruling Council. Lions may have personal beliefs, but the law applies to all evenly on Mythia, and personal feelings and beliefs are always secondary to justice. Duty above all things.
JOINING THE LION GUARD
Men, women, beasts, and Mythians may serve as a Lion. Once a person chooses to do so, they are to report to the Garrison in Town and appear before the Lord Commander to volunteer. After an interview and training period, the select few that survive the process take the oath of Sacramentum and are granted the arms and armor of the Lion Guard.
The Lord Commander will determine the initial rank and position of your character within the Guard. All changes in command will be posted when needed. Guards will be able to rise in the ranks using the Roleplay Perks Page.
All players that wish to play as a Guard will be allowed to do so. If they choose to not follow the IC rules of the Guard or the laws of the island, (such as rescuing someone in the capture zone from being captured) then that Guard will be held accountable for their actions if they are discovered.
The Lord Commander can remove characters from the Guard and can make them Captivus if they are criminals. If the Lord Commander is unavailable, contact an Admin. If there is no player in the Lord Commander position, an NPC Lord Commander will be used.

The Sacramentum
Upon completion of a training phase, all Lion Guard are required to swear an oath before the Lord Commander.
“I swear by all that is good and just that I shall faithfully execute all that the Lord Commander commands. I shall never desert the Lion Guard, and I shall never seek to avoid death in the service to the Guard.”
This oath is why the Guard are subjected to harsher penalties, such as execution and corporal punishment, even above that of the Captivas and citizens. In effect, the Guard has put their life on deposit to Mythia.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES OF LION GUARD
(Rules may change based on the Current Lord Commander wishes)
The Lions enforce all laws on the island. They patrol or guard throughout the Town, Ports and Village ensuring that peace and safety rules the day for all citizens. They are tasked with arresting anyone who is in violation of the law. They may be asked to watch over or patrol certain areas or a residence. While on duty, the Guard is not only representing themselves, but also the authority on the island. Remember to act and Roleplay accordingly.
In addition, they are responsible to ensure all Captivus are performing their jobs and have the authority to enforce punishment on a Captivus, if needed.
Lastly, all Lion Guard are tasked with following any other task deemed necessary by the Lord Commander.

ARRESTS
The Lion Guard may arrest any Mythian, citizen or captivus who is discovered breaking the law. Whatever force is necessary to make the arrest is permitted. (After all, you can not escape the island. Even if you run, it is a matter of time until arrested. Yes, fleeing the Guard is an additional crime and will add to the punishment.)
Any crimes committed and arrests made are to be brought before the Lord Commander for judgement. For most minor infractions, the Lord Commander will make the decision to send them to Council trial or to free them. (Multiple infractions will cause them to be bound for trial). They may be placed in one of the cages around the Garrison, or on one of the various Binding Poles found throughout the island as a punishment.
For major crimes, (murder, theft of a large value, etc.) the accused is taken to the Prison cell in the Village or to the Hole to await Council trial.
NOTE: When arresting and securing a prisoner, it is the responsibility of the Guard to continue Roleplay and conversation with the prisoner. It can be RPed that prisoners are chained up to walls in places or that are close to Guards. Do not simply arrest a criminal, toss them in a cage and walk away.

APPEARANCE AND WEAPONS
All clothing and equipment must be time-appropriate. Greek, Roman, Spartan, Egyptian, or Norse clothing, armor, and weapons are highly encouraged. Modern weapons and armor (such as firearms) are not allowed. The outfit should resemble that of a guard with appropriate armor.
Armor worn should cover all vital spots on the body, including the chest. Mythians, like humans, can die if a sword runs through their body and hits a vital organ. A wound to a major artery will cause ‘bleeding out’ and death in moments. Death on the island is consent-based, but if you take an injury like this due to Roleplay (or loss of a die roll) and you are not wearing effective armor, you will be required to play out those injuries. Consider this when choosing outfits for this role.
Lion Guards should wear equipment appropriate to their rank as well. Leave the ability to improve your look as you rise in rank. A standard Lion Guard would not look the same as a Centurion or Legate.
The Lord Commander has the choice to excuse a Guard if they feel the attire is not appropriate to the Lion Guard.
RANKS
Lower Ranks
The lower ranks are the rank and file of the Lion Guard and are numerous. Lions of these ranks should wear clothing that is red in color to denote their service to the Guard.
