Just as the island chooses which humans can come live on the island, the island chooses who can find the island. In days before the curse, traders and pirates were selected by the Ancient Gods to bring the Mythians new materials and supplies. These gifts were supposed to stall the Mythians from finding out the truth and sending more Mythians out into the human world.
The first traders and pirates learned that there was more to gain from the Mythians then from the Ancient Gods. It was these humans that helped the Mythians discover the truth but unfortunately it was too late. The island was cursed, and they were trapped inside. The pirates and traders that were not in dock at the time of the curse, discovered that they could still find Mythia through the stone that had been given them. These men and women still wanted to trade with Mythia. As time passed the stones were no longer needed. They were all returned to the island. The first traders and pirates gained a connection to the island and were able to find it. As the traders and pirates got older, they would train new ones to take their places. The old traders and pirates would then retire on the island. It wasn't till many years after the first pirates and traders had passed away, did the Mythian discover how to turn a human into a Mythian. None of the original pirates or traders still exist. But new ones continue to come to Mythia. To gain what the island has to offer and live a long life. |
PIRATES AND TRADERS ARE ROYALTY ON MYTHIA
Other than humans arriving on the island, the pirates and traders are the best source of information about life off the island. The ships that dock bring materials such as fabric, art, wood, even food from foreign areas. For some Mythians it is a reminder of the homes they left when they found themselves trapped on Mythia. Others are simply amazed at the new materials they have never seen before.
The Harbor Master often must serve as mediator between the different shops owners as to who gets what materials. Many of the business owners will petition the harbor master for the Pirates and Traders to bring them certain supplies unavailable on Mythia. When the ships arrive, the pirates are traders are given free room and board, drink and often a slave or two if they so desire to warm their beds while they are on Mythia. Most pirates and traders remain on the docks. However, some are granted special passage into the Town (and even the Village) to conduct business with the Governors and at times the Councils. The better materials they bring the higher status they more business they can do with the Mythians. |
NOT GOOD AT SHARING
Pirates and traders learned long ago that they didn't want to open trade to the whole world with Mythians, therefore, only a few ships ever make it to the island. There are two reasons for this:
Pirates and traders learned long ago that they didn't want to open trade to the whole world with Mythians, therefore, only a few ships ever make it to the island. There are two reasons for this:
- The benefits they gain from the island, they don't want to share. It is considered their most valuable treasure. (Gold, gems and other things the humans give value to have little worth on Mythia. Gold is simply a trinket. The pirates and traders are allowed to keep these items from the humans as payment for passage on their ship )
- The Ancient Gods do not know they are still in contact with the island, through passed down stories, they know what happened. The pirates and traders don't want to piss off the gods. So, they practice avoidance when it comes to the Ancient World Gods.
SPECIAL ABILITIES OF PIRATES AND TRADERS OF MYTHIA
That's right.. The Pirates and Traders of Mythia along with their loyal crews have gained some abilities.. from their years of work with the Mythians
EXTENDED LIFE From time to time the pirates and traders will stay on the island. They eat and drink the food. (They are never given the Eternity Fruit until they ask to remain on the island). The island is like a fountain of youth for them. They do not age at the same speed or rate as a normal human. This can extend their life off the pirate up to 100 years. TRACKING INSTINCT FOR MYTHIA Regardless of storms or how long they have been away, pirate or trader of Mythia can always find the island if they have the best intention for the island. (This means if they try and bring something to do harm to the Mythians. The island will feel the shift in energy, and they will lose the connection) MINOR MIND CONTROL Just as the island had cursed the first man, the island gave the first pirates and traders a small boost for their loyalty to the Mythians over the Ancient gods. This allowed the Pirates and Traders the ability to control the minds of other humans. With eye contact a pirate or trader can give an order to another human and that person will fall under their control. Allows the pirate/trader to make another human perform an action.

CREATING YOUR PIRATE/TRADER CHARACTER
- Determine the ancient world origin of your pirate/trader. This is the same as any Human. (See Human Basics for more information).
- Choose three skills/instincts.
- Determine what materials you bring to trade. (Although we do have slaves being brought in, they are not a priority of to the Mythians.)
- Establish what countries you travel too.
- Pirates/Traders can gain skills through the roleplay perks.
WHEN THEY RETIRE?
Pirates and Traders are invited to live and retire on the island. Some even choose to turn Mythian. Of the humans the Pirates/Traders are considered the highest level of human. Due to their secrecy and willingness to trade and bring supplies to their island.
