Herbal Potions, Medical Tonics and PoisonsHerbal Remedies, tonics and potions in the ancient world were used for healing. Many herbs do have healing abilities. Herbal potions, tonics and remedies do not require magic to work. The following refers to only Herbal Potions, tonics and remedies that do not require magic for it to be used.
Just like herbal potions and medical tonics poisons can be made and used but with the intent to cause harm to another person. These Poisons do not require magic to make them work but like the herbal potions they will require in-character work to make them, approval before use and knowledge with how to use them.

Before you go any further...
- To make herbal medicines, potions or tonics, at least one of your three skills must be related to making Herbal potions.
- We ask that all players that make herbal remedies work in some capacity with the Medicus. This includes jobs such as doctor, nurse, intern or a player may make their unique remedies/potions for the Medicus to sale.
- In Mythia, all potions, tonics and remedies are taking to the Medicus for testing ( this is an IC Roleplay). Potions, tonics, and remedies that have not been test and are found being used can lead to criminal charges for the person who makes it and the people using it. ( If not tested a dice rolls needs to be used to see if it works. If the potions fails, there should be a negative reaction on the person that took it.
Limitations on making herbal potions and poisons.
- Players may not make their own version of the herbal potions and remedies that are listed on the potions page. You must come up with unique potions and remedies that help or harm in other ways.
- If the herb didn't exist in that time period (say it is an plant that grows in north america) then you cannot use it.
- Potions, tonics, or remedies that last more than 8 hours will need approval from admin
- Any potions that is used to influence a person mentally (example: Truth) or Poisons need to have admin approval before used in roleplay.
- The resources on the island are limited. Herbs and other unique ingredients are hard to come by. Therefore the ability to make these are limited. Many of the Herbal Potions, Poisons and Tonics can be purchased at the Medicus. Players can try and find the herbs at the market place, ask the Harbor Master to order some for you,hit up a pirate or trader, find a Mythian that can grow plants, or if you can find it visit the Black Market. ( Characters can be arrested if they are found abusing an island resource and made Captivus)
- Poisons may not cause death.
- Poisons cannot be made in large quantities. Poison need to be in liquid form meaning the herbs need to be boiled down or the oil extracted from the leaves. Making large quantities at once would keep cause the maker to experience the effects of the poison.
How to go about making your own potions, remedies, and poisons.
- Fill out the format below with your potion, healing tonics or poultices
- Use the format below to develop (All questions must be answered)
- Post your Herbal potion, tonic or poultices on the Herbal Forum in Enjin
- Let an admin know to look at the Herbal Forum if you have a potion that needs admin approval.

All players that create a potion, tonic, poison or remedy will be given credit when the post is placed in Weebly.
The Creator has the right to choose if the potion will be private or public.
Public potions are sold to the Medicus along with instructions on how to make it. This is a potion, tonic or remedy that can be manufactured over and over again with little chance of running out. These potions can be bought at the Medicus or by the creator. The creator would get a portion of the sale or whatever they were bartering with.
Private potions are sold to the Medicus in a limited supply. The ingredients are not given. Therefore only the Creator can make this potion, tonic, or remedy. (If the Creator goes inactive for over a month and it is a popular potion. The Doctors will be able to figure out the ingredients ic in order to continue its use. This will be determined by admin on a case by case basis.)

TESTING AT THE MEDICUS
When testing the potion or remedy at the Medicus a 2 out of three dice roll will be used to determine if it works (if you lose the dice roll.. you just need to rp substituting a different ingredients. You do not need to rewrite the whole post. ( testing can be done by the lead doctor, a nurse or an intern If no one is available see an admin)

CONSENT
- Herbal remedies and potions that are done correctly and not over powering do not need permission from an admin. They should be posted on the forum and an admin should be made aware of the new post so it can be posted on the Weebly page.
- Herbal remedies with affects that last longer than 8 hours or influences a person mentally need admin approval. Once approval has been given they will be able to continue to with the roleplay, The remedy will be added to Weebly.
- We do want to keep a record of what remedies are being used on sim. As a player if you cannot find the remedy being used on the website or the Enjin forum, the Herbal remedy automatically doesn't work. If it is posted on the forum and not Weebly. Check with an admin.
Non Magical Poisons DO need approval before use. The poisons will follow the same format but will also need to include a cure.
