Welcome To Mythia,
Before you get started reading through the information about this Roleplay sim we wanted to provide you with some background to why we wrote this story. It is important to know that Mythia is NOT based on a book, a movie or any historical writings. The story is original.
Races
In starting a fantasy sim, we wanted to give players the options to create a unique look and a unique character not based on preset notions of a race. We chose not to have set races such as orcs, fae or elves because there are so many versions of them. Your character is welcome to have the traits of those creatures based on your own interpretation of that species. We did not want people arguing over how a character is supposed to look or act. These arguments come from people reading different lore. So, all creatures on the island are Mythian. (A character based on a fae, a demon, or an orc - it doesn't really matter as they are all Mythians.) Keep that in mind there are only two races on the island: Mythian or Human. The Mythian Race includes everyone that is not human. There is a division in The Mythian race based on their powers and appearance. To distinguish between the two different types of Mythian we have named one of the groups the Beast.
We have the role of Captivus which is a slave-like role. For a character to become Captivus they must commit a crime or be sold to the Custos after being Captured. You may not start as a Captivus. The Captivus role is not a permanent role and is not necessarily a sexual role. Your character will be eventually freed and is not expected to have sex with all players. Although this role is one of servitude, we do not want to fall into the same pitfalls that many sims with the slavery aspect do. This is done very differently here, so before you run to get captured or get charged with a crime (hoping to be the slave that is adored) please read over this role carefully. Ignorance as to what the Captivus is will not get a player out of in-character consequences.
Historical information and Mythological References
Our Story was INSPIRED by Mythologies and life in the ancient world but our sim does not strictly follow any of those stories or concepts. It doesn't matter if you are a history scholar or have a master’s degree in Mythologies Studies, knowing those stories will not give you an in character advantage in this story. The root of the story came from the idea of a Roman/Greek ancient world sim. The fictional island is located off the coast of Sicily, so as you read you will find more references to the Greek and Roman mythologies. This does not mean that you can't base your character on another Mythological figure, but you are only basing your character of that figures concepts not reproducing that character. Our story did not take the mythological stories and incorporate them into our storyline. On Mythia, they will not talk about the story or "Echo and Narcissus" or the story of the Celtic Goddess Morrigan. In this story Zeus, Anubis and Aphrodite took advantage of humankind and posed as gods. Your characters can have similar powers and traits as these famous mythological characters but we are not playing out the stories from those ancient religions.
The stories of the first primordial gods do not exist in this story. In fact, the Ancient Gods and Goddess aren't really gods or goddesses. They are Mythians that managed to invade the human world and pretended to be more that what they are to gain control and power over the humans. The Ancient world gods in this story are simply posers taking advantage of a weaker race. This group of ancient gods were so power hungry, they trapped their own family members on the island for their own gain.
The Lore itself
For our story we aren't starting from the beginning of the island. We are starting centuries into the story where the Mythains find themselves trapped on the shores of their home. We developed a culture and a way of life on the island. This way of life does not follow any ancient worlds societies, rules, or culture. The Mythians (well, the Elder Council technically) do humor the humans that come to the shore and allow them to carry on in a manner that is like their native land, but they do not subscribe to those human’s way of life. Looking through history not all aspects or rules in those cultures make sense, it is just what they did. For example, how children are treated on this sim... OOC they are not allowed... but story wise... it is how it has always been done that way and will always be done that way.
We have written the lore in three ways, a detailed version that gives players the whole story and a short simple version for those that want a quick look in determining if this story is for them and a third version for the drop-by casual player. The two short version of our lore does not give in depth explanations of why things are. We ask that if you decide you want the lead roles or position of power on sim that you do read and understand the full lore, so you have a full understanding of the culture of Mythia. For the more casual player we want you to have fun as well but please make sure if you are jumping into a larger story that you will give the time and play the character according to our lore. We do not want to see long time storylines interrupted or destroyed due to ignorance of the lore. As you read through the shorter versions or the full story, we do understand that we may not offer everything you want to have. We will not change our lore. We will allow creative roleplay however that may change the society or the rules. For example, we have two ruling council, currently the Elder Council is in charge. We will allow the other council (Remnant) council to overthrow the Elder Council which would change the rules on the island.
For the story we have provided players with background information and some explanations to why the Mythians think and live the way that they do. There were certain concepts that we want to be part of our story. For the Drop by/Casual players, those concepts may not be needed to have your roll in the hay but for those that are looking for a deeper story line, those concepts and ideas are there for you to reference. The Lore is supposed to be the foundation in which you can start your story on the Island of the Gods. We are semi- to Paragraph RPers. We welcome all drop in and long term players to the sim.
We hope you enjoy our story and our idea... and that you will want to find a roleplay home in Mythia.
