THE BASICS OF EMPATHY
- Empathy is the ability to sense another person's emotions.
- This is power relates only to Emotions.
- It is not a form of mind control.
- Everyone feels emotions, even the Mythians. Beast and Domaci.
- These power often leaves the person wanted to be isolated and away from others. If they cannot gain proper control of blocking other emotions it can drive them insane. Calming herbs and Teas can help with this instead of using energy to block this ability.
- Being around large groups is not easy.. this can drain the empathic. if they are sololy relying their powers to block the emotions.
STARTING ABILITIES
All players with this ability can
Block Emotions All Players with Empathy have the power to block emotion. This requires concentration, the more people in close proximity, the harder it is to block. This will improve with each level.
Identify Emotions -All players can focus on one person (20 meters) and identify how they are feeling.

BASIC EMPATHY UPGRADES
LEVEL1
ANIMAL EMPATHY
The player is able to feel the emotions of animals close to them. They cannot control the animal but knowing how the animals are feeling may help the avoid danger. You can sense the emotions in an animal.. but if the animal is actually a changling you will not be able to tell that it is more than just an animal.
For level 1 only one large animal (wolf or bigger) or 5 small animals can be felt.
The player is able to feel the emotions of animals close to them. They cannot control the animal but knowing how the animals are feeling may help the avoid danger. You can sense the emotions in an animal.. but if the animal is actually a changling you will not be able to tell that it is more than just an animal.

One on one Blocking -
The player can fully block out one player's emotion for 3 post rounds. A player must focus on the person.. This can be done through eye contact or by focusing on something else. As long as there is only one person around this can be done throughout the day. This does not cost a lot of energy. A new roll needs to be done after every 3rd post to see if the blocking remains effective for the next three post rounds. If the user fails, they can roll again after their next post.. this will restart the every 3 post rounds (User is rolling against themselves, not the other player)
The blocking power will stop working as soon as another person enters the scene or if anything that breaks the user attention, The user will feel the emotions of the players for one full post round, before they can roll again to start the block. An object will be needed to help block two or more people.
Large group Blocking
As more people come around you, the harder it is to block the Emotions. If you are just trying to block one person you will feel the others. Those feeling strong emotions at the time will be easier to pinpoint. This will not tell you why but give you only the emotion.

The overwhelming emotion will create confusion and the player having the power used on them will not know you did it. This will be in effect for three post rounds. This can be used to as a form of distraction.

Once the user has identified another players emotion has been identified the player can cause the player to suddenly feel the exact opposite of what they are feeling. The user most have eye or hand contact. The user most speak the opposite emotion in a sentence to the player they are using it on.
Example.. The player is happy.. The user says "I am so glad I am not feeling sad today". The player will become sad.
The power will work on the player for 3 post rounds.

The push in combination with why the emotion is happening will intensify the feeling 2x then just knowing the emotion. This will last for 4 post rounds. User can also use verbal context to back up the other players emotional response.

EMPATHY LIMITS
- Empathy is not mind reading.. this power only lets the user feel the other players emotion.. but they do not know why they are feeling that way
- The Emphatic may only use the five basic emotions, Joy, sadness, fear, disgust or anger.
- The user cannot control how a person reacts to the emotion.. Example.. Some people get mad.. Cry. because they are so angry they need time to cool off.. Where others might throw a punch. The user will not be able to dictate that reaction. The user can try a give advice to push a player in a certain direction.
- A user cannot make a person feel in anyway .. towards the user. If tried the power will back fire and the exact opposite of the emotion you are trying to invoke on the person will be how the person will feel about you. ( At no point can a player make someone fall in love)
- Complicated Emotions such as love, arousal, loyalty, etc.. are not available with this power as other powers utilize them.
- This power cannot be used on Animals or plants. (It can be used on the Beast, however if the changling is in animal form you power will not work on them)
HOW DO I USE MY POWER?
- Two post to use your power
- First post to pull energy
- Pushing your power towards whoever you are using it on.
- Dice roll is used for this power. ( Unless both players agree)
Example:
User : Post attempting to make eye contact or physical contact
Both players roll. High roll wins.
If the user is successful, contact is made.. If not they can try again.
Player: post according to the dice roll
Users: post a second attempt or the use of the power.
Player responds accordingly. (if the user has won the 2 rolls at this point, the power works. If the user has not won 2 rolls, the players will roll again. 2 out of three rolls is the winner.
OPTIONAL:
To keep things fair players can use the dice to tell how strong the power is. The last set roll in which the User won will determine the strength. 10 is max strength.. 5 is mid level.
Note:
The User in this power gives the emotion the player will feel. It is up to the player how they react to it.
If a player loses a roll in which a power is being used on them, we expect all players to play fair and not downplay the effects of the power. This will lead to roleplay warnings if this happens frequently.. Be a good sport and take the hit if you lose the dice.
This power plays more against the User then on other people. The player only needs to role against another person, if they are attempting to use a power that will affect the other player. Most of their rolls will be against themselves.
POWERS IN MYTHIA
Where do the powers come from?
All Mythians receive their powers from the island. In order for Mythians and the island to survive it is important for all Mythians to use their powers. The energy of the island moves in a cycle from the island, to the Mythians and back to the island again.
How do powers affect the character?
Power on Mythia is not unlimited. Using powers will cause one or more of the following nausea, fatigue, dizziness, blurred vision. The more power used the stronger and longer the effect will last. It is the player's choice of what side effects your character feels after using powers.

Minor amount of power used:
After using her power to directly heal a minor cut, the doctor would need to rest for thirty minutes ( RP Time , not rl time). Once she had time to relax the doctor slowly got up and fixed a small snack before starting to work again.
Large amount of power used:
He used his wind power to blow away those that were attacking him. For the time he was safe, as the adrenaline left, he slowly slid to the floor and passed out for a few hours.
We have not made a point or system for players to track how long the side effects work. We ask that all play fair with this rule an play accordingly
