THE SIDE EFFECTS
4. ALL POWER USAGE HAS A SIDE EFFECT, IT'S STRONGER DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF POWER USED.
Pick one: fatigue, nausea etc.
Beyond that players can choose if they are more ritualistic or if it is just a simple matter of concentration.

How to use your power?
Any power that is not a physical ability requires energy. This energy comes from the island. From a very early age born Mythians are taught how to channel the islands energy. Those that turn human to Mythian have to learn how to channel the energy. Using power requires the person to channel the energy from the island and then focus the energy into the power they are using. This requires two post.
1. Channeling the energy
2. Focus and push of the energy into the power.
Example:
Post #1 She stood there for a moment, looking at the people moving through the marketplace. She began to think about energy around her. The energy coming from the ground into her body. She stood there letting the energy move through her.
Post #2 She let out a sigh, enjoying the rush of the energy moving through her. She wanted to see the pink fabric just behind the merchant, but the lady in front the stall blocked her from getting a closer look. She focused her attention on the pink fabric as she lifted her hand. The ream of fabric flew off the shelf and to her hand as long as no one stopped it.
After the second post, the player will roll the dice.
* Some powers require special things such as an object or eye contact. If those are not present when the power is used the power automatically fails.

ROLLING THE DICE
The Dice Roll
First thing to remember is that powers are not 100% reliable. No one is perfect. Therefore regardless of the power or how you are using the power a dice will need to be used.
If the power is used on another character in a fight situation - Both Players Roll. High roll wins round.
If the power is used on another character in a non combat situation - Both Players Roll. High roll wins. This means the power was effective, however the player the power is used on gets to choose how well it worked.
If the power is used on an inanimate objects or non player - Player user rolls.. 5 and up the power is effective under 5 the power fails. The player has three chances to get the power to work before they will to rest. Rest for minor power usage 4 post rounds. Larger power uses can cause black outs if working alone. This includes making potions and remedies.
** Special note:
Using powers require consent and should not violate another players limits. In combat scenes if both players have agreed to fight the losing player will be expected to follow the results of the dice. OOC discussion of limits should be had before dice is rolled. This is the responsibility of both players to make sure they both understand what is consequences are.

Side Effects or Using Powers
Power in Mythia is not unlimited.
EVERY USE TIME A POWER IS USED THERE WILL BE REACTION
The energy you pull from the island is released from you when you use the powers. Your body is basically the conduit for the energy and it takes a physical toll on you. The amount of power used determines how strong the side effects is. No matter how small it is there will be a side effect felt.

SIDE EFFECTS
Players choose how the power effects them. The side effect should be something that would cause the player to have to stop and regroup. Examples: Fatigue, fainting, nausea, headaches etc. Players can use different effects for different levels of usage.
In some cases the side effect of using to much power can cause blackouts

POWER USAGE
If a person is excited or feel threatened the control over their power is going to be less then when that person is calm. This determines the amount of power used. Its all in the control. Using more power will not make your power more potent or allow you to do extra things. You still need to stay within the guidelines of the powers according to the website.
Endurance this also means a person wouldn't be able to walk around all day using their power.

RANDOM THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER
Level 1 powers cannot be used on multiple people. (In most cases this involves Mental abilities such as mind control.)
Different powers may have slightly different rules because of how they are used. Please check the individual power page to see where some of the differences. If there are any questions please contact an admin

NOTE TO ALL PLAYERS ON PLAYING FAIR
Note to players: As your admin team we feel players should be able to play fair and responsibly. We want to give the players the opportunity to do things that most sims restrict. In our years of roleplaying in fantasy and other types of roleplay where magic/energy was used, we have seen players abuse them. They want to be all powerful and some just don't want to lose. This tends to cause drama and takes the fun out of the story. Certain limits have been put in place to help prevents this type of drama from taking place.
Some of these limits are the use of dice when using a power. There are some players that just refuse to take a hit and the dice will help with that. There is an exception to this rule only happens during a one on one roleplay. Players have the choice during these scenes to have roleplay combat. For this to happen both players have to agree to roleplay combat over the dice. If one player does not agree to it, then it goes back to dice. (Group combat scenes and when a player is creating something dice must be used).
As players ourselves we want to keep things simple. We didn't want to keep character sheets or restrict powers to the point they weren't really worth having. As players we want everyone to have fun and help use create this fantasy world. It is understood that there will always be the one player that is all power and doesn't play fair. And that player will be handled accordingly, what we don't want is to have a sim of those players. Examples of abusing the power is doing things far beyond what their powers should be, not having any side effects for long time use or not using a dice, we will icly restrict a players powers and give them an Roleplay warning.. If this becomes a situation where it is a constantly a problem we do reserve the right to revisit the powers and add restrictions where needed.

Where does the Power come from?
The island of Mythia has been around since the beginning of time. The island draws energy directly from the Earth's core. This energy has made the island a living being. The island thinks of the Mythians as its children, the raw power that is in their food, drink and even air provides the Mythians with the energy that allows them to have longer life, physical abilities and powers. (For more information on this follow the link to the lore at the bottom of the page)
The Mythians and the Island had a symbiotic relationship. They both benefited from using the energy. The constant circle of pulling the energy from the island and then releasing kept the island and the Mythians thriving. Channeling the energy became instinct for most Mythians, even if they did not fully release the power, bringing the energy to them and letting it go became part of them. If the Mythians tried not to use the energy, they would become ill.
As the Mythians got older, this need to use energy would begin to fade. As they reached the end of their life they would stop pulling energy all together. The Mythian would find themselves wandering off alone into the interior of the island and when the time was right, they would simply lay down. In one last burst of energy, their bodies would turn to stone as they once again merged with the island.
